I watched 172 movies in 2017. This includes rewatches of movies I've already seen, theatrical films I saw in my living room and those I went into the theatre to see. On average I tend to not hate most movies. Using my own grading scale,
this year I averaged a "C+" rating for all the films.
Like most years, there were terrible movies (I'm looking at you Transformers: The Last Knight) but I'm limiting my 'Worst Of' list to 5. Why? I'm trying to be less negative; plus, when
you're ranking turds, at some point it doesn't matter.
There were also lots of great movies this year and it was more difficult than usual to determine the Top 10. When I finished, I surprised myself with how much I really like some movies
(Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri) and how many strong films didn't make the cut (Get Out, Blade Runner 2049). In the end, this list isn't perfect and I could argue with myself about the order but this is what I came up with and I'm going with
my gut.
